Nach zwei atemberaubend warmen Tagen mit tollen Ritten auf der ebensolchen Anlage von Ludger Beerbaum stand es fest: Die neuen Team-Europameister in der Dressur sind die gleichen wie 2011 – und kommen aus Groß-Britannien. War es vor 12 Jahren das Team rund Charlotte Dujardin und Valegro, so war es diesmal…… nein, nicht das Team rund um Lottie Fry und Glamourdale, sondern einmal mehr das Team rund um Charlotte Dujardin und den erst 10-jährigen Imhotep. Deutschland gewann Silber, die Dänen Bronze.
After two breathtaking warm days with super rounds on Ludger Beerbaum’s super location it was clear: The new team European champions are the same as in 2011 – and are coming from Great-Britain. 12 years ago, it was the team around Charlotte Dujardin and Valegro and this time…. no, it was not the team around Lottie Fry and Glamourdale, but again the team around Charlotte Dujardin and only 10-year young Imhotep. Germany claimed the silver medal, the Danish riders bronze.
Die erste Überraschung gab es schon nach dem ersten Tag: Overnight leader nach der ersten Hälfte des Feldes war der Brite Carl Hester mit Fame, einem 13-jährigen KWPN-Wallach aus dem Besitz von Fiona Bigwood. Da Fiona aber nach ihrer Verletzung und OP immer noch außer Gefecht ist, hatte sie Hester gefragt, ob er den Wallach nicht reiten wolle. Er wollte und ritt den Bordeaux-Sohn im nur vierten gemeinsamen Turnier „mal eben“ zu Team-Gold und einem fünften Platz im Einzelranking des Grand Prix (78,540%). Die beiden Charlottes lagen im Grand Prix schlussendlich auf den Plätzen zwei und drei. Charlotte Dujardin und ihr noch unerfahrener Imhotep zeigten eine Wahnsinnsrunde in allergrößter Präzision und landeten mit 82,422% direkt hinter Olympiasiegerin Jessica von Bredow-Werndl mit Dalera (84,612%) und vor Charlotte Fry mit Glamourdale (81,258%). Das erwartete Duell zwischen Dalera und Glamourdale – also zwischen Olympiasiegerin und Weltmeister – fiel eher aus, denn der Everdale-Sohn war (noch) nicht in der Glanzform von Herning, wo er Zuschauer und Richter gleichermaßen verzaubert hatte. Zwischen die Briten auf den Rängen drei und fünf konnte sich noch die Aachen-Überraschung Nanna Skodborg Merrald mit Blue Hors Zepter positionieren (78,556%), die damit entscheidend zur Team-Bronzemedaille der Dänen beitrug.
Die Team-Ergebnisse im Detail:
The first surprise happened already at the end of the first day: Overnight leader after the first half of the competitors was Great Britain’s Carl Hester with Fame, a 13-year old KWPN-gelding owned by Fiona Bigwood. As Fiona is still suffering from her injury and the following surgery, she had asked Hester if he would compete the gelding. He decided to do so and rode the Bordeaux-offspring in the only fourth mutual competition nearly incidentially to team gold and a fifth place in the Grand Prix (78,540%). The two Charlottes at the end ranked on second and third place. Charlotte Dujardin and her quite inexperienced Imhotep rode to raving success with the utmost accuracy, scored 82,422% and therefore placed directly behind Olympic champion Jessica von Bredow-Werndl with Dalera (84,612%) and in front of Charlotte Fry with Glamourdale (81,258%). The long awaited duel between Dalera and Glamourdale did not (yet) took place – the son of Everdale was not yet in this sparkling form from Herning, where he bewitched both audience and judges. Between the Brits on third and fifth place, Danish rider and the Aachen surprise Nanna Skodborg Merrald and Blue Hors Zepter finished fourth with 78,556%, who by this contributed to the team bronze medal of the Danish team.
